Getting GPS data back

Hi:

I have some old Houdah Geo .hgeo files in old projects and I wanted to export just the GPS data, without the picture data. Is there a way to get the old waypoint GPS data back as a regular GPS Track file (say GPX or something).

I'm using it to add tracks to Aperture.

Is there a way to edit file keywords in HoudaSpot?

HoudaSpot's Inspector shows that some of my files have a "Keyword" attribute while others do not. For the files that do, it looks like you can edit the contents of the Keyword attribute, but in fact, those edits disapear once the Inspector window closes.

Question 1: Is there any way to use HoudaSpot to edit the contents of a file's Keyword attribute when that attribute is visable in Inspector?

Question 2: Can HoudaSpot create and populate a Keyword attribute for files that don't have a Keyword attribute?

Question 3: If HoudaSpot can't do these two things, is there any other way to do them?

Blitzsearch Syntax

Colorado 400t skipped tracks

I am trying to download tracks from a Garmin 400t connected via usb.
With either garmin serial or nmea mode set in the gps, I receive the error

"One or more of the tracks are of unknown format. They were skipped."

How can this be corrected?

Geotagging from Aperture 3 not shown in HoudahGeo

Hi,

I am using Aperture 3 for geotagging my images. If I import them to HoudahGeo using the library browser I don't see the geotagging information. I want to use HoudahGeo for exporting the information into a KML file.

Any help is welcome!

Simple find not working

Within a set of folders I have a number of Word (.doc and .docx) files that contain the string NASCO. Using indents here as in HoudahSpot, here are my settings (and I've attached a screen shot as well), I get no results:

All of the following are true:

Any text - contains words - NASCO

Any of the following is true:

Name - ends with - .doc (also tried sans periods)
Name - ends with - docx

As a Boolean, this is NASCO and (.doc or docx). Seems simple but it's not working. What's wrong? A find in Finder hits 76 files.

Suggestion - picture of GPS clock to offset8 picture times

I purchased a Holux m-241 logger (MTK chipset) to use on a week-long backpacking trip. I chose it for 2 reasons - it took AA batteries (so I could put in a freshly charged battery each day) and it had a display. I'd previously had an AMOD 3080, and it was simply not a turn-on-and-forget device.

Each morning, I'd put a new battery in the m-241, turn it on, and then after it had locked on to a signal I'd take a picture of the m-241 time display. MUCH simpler than carefully setting the camera time. Also, if I forgot to take a picture of the GPS clock in the morning, I could just take a picture of the clock at lunchtime instead. This way, I could be assured that my GPS tracks would have an accurate time without having to spend all that much time fiddling in the field (literally).

This leads me to my suggestion. I'd like to see a feature in HoudahGeo that lets me choose any picture (i.e. my picture of the GPS clock), and then manually enter the correct time. Once this is done, it uses this offset to determine the proper time for the entire picture set. The Ovolab program has this feature. I can find the picture of the clock, enter in the "correct" time for that picture, and it will offset the time accordingly for the rest of the pictures.

I purchased Houdah Geo because I liked the interface and workflow, but I ended up also buying the Ovolab program because I really wanted the ability to use a GPS clock photo for setting the time offset. I like Houdah Geo better - I'd switch back if this feature were implemented.

Can't See Aperture Library

Running 10.6.2, HoudahGeo 2.4.5 & Aperture 3.0.1

I tried HoudahGeo on the iMac and both iPhoto and Aperture libraries show up great but I only need HoudahGeo on my MBP. The Aperture library shows up in pages media browser but only iPhoto library in HoudahGeo

I have attached the com.apple.iApps.plist that looks fine to my inspection.

I have rebuilt permissions, Repaired the database, & rebuilt the data base.

Exported the library but the exported did not show up either.

I can't find a preference in Aperture to share the library with iWorks.

Share previews with iLife and iWorks is set to Always.

The masters are stored in my picture folder. I have the same number of masters as versions.

I set share libraries with iwork/ilife to never, quit and restarted and set it back to Always. I held down the option key and regenerated previews. Real easy because all photos are jpeg.

Never mind when you Check the box that says load Aperture Library in HoudahGeo preferences it works.

Wrong gps data

Hi *,

i use an M-241 to log my position.

After importing the gps data using HoudahGeo 2.4.4 (for Mac) my position for a certain photo is recorded as being 22.35891N 105.49340E. This is about 100 miles/150km off the real position.

Now I used GPSBabel to read the binary data from the device and simultaneously convert it into the gpx format. This gives me a position at 21.03080N and 105.8498E which is correct.

Now I deleted all the tracks in the track inspector and copied a single file to another folder to check if it works now. Surprisingly, HoudahGeo uses the old position information.

Any ideas why it does that and how I can get rid of that behaviour ??

Problem importing from iPhoto

I've got a problem while importing more than five photos from iPhoto (8.1.1) to HoudahGeo (2.4.4 registered)

When i drop photos from the media browser to HoudahGeo, I see a process frame saying "Loading x image file(s)" and the import never finishes. Here's what my console log says :

HoudahGeo just stops working...

I used HoudahGeo several times successfully in the past. Recently however, the program seems to just stop geocoding before it normally would.

The process:

After opening HoudahGeo I load my CR2 pictures (Canon Raw) into the program. In the second step I'm loading my AMOD GPS file that belongs to the pictures into HoudahGeo and it loads the track. After some time the track inspector adds a line item for the track and a window appears that x amount of pictures will be geocoded.

Now after some seconds the windows just closes and nothing happens.

That way I'm not able to tag a single picture successfully and I did several thousands in the past.

Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Newbie Help with Aperture / Houdah Geo 2.4.4

I've loaded images from Aperture into Houdah Geo using the library browsing widget. I've set their geographic location using the map feature. I've saved the co-ordinates to the images (EXIF/XMP/IPTC).

I can find no evidence of GPS / co-ordinate information in the photos when I open in Aperture or Aperture3 or iPhoto 9. But if I re-open the images in HoudahGeo I can see the co-ordinates I saved to the images.

I'm using 2.4.4 and I have unticked the create copies and always write to XMP options.

I'm obviously doing something wrong - but can't find any indication what it might be. What do I need to do to get the GPS information attached to the images?

.XMP sidecar files

My workflow for tagging my photos involves using the JOBO PhotoGPS and its software. It reads the .CR2 RAW files from my Canon cameras and creates .XMP side car files with the data. When I import the .CR2 files into Houdahgeo, and then attempt to write the data in the .XMP files directly to the RAW file so I can then import them into Aperture, it does not seem to be working. In an earlier version of Houdahgeo, I had no problem with this. When I initially import the .CR2 files, Houdahgeo only shows that there is info. present for Altitude. It does not show the files as being geotagged.

I would really appreciate your help in getting this resolved.

Royaltek rtb-2300

Hi, I have a GPS Royaltek rtb-2300 but this is not compatible with Houdah. I like program but I don't want to use XP for getting the nmea file and then use another program in Mac OSX for matching pictures. Any possibility of making program compatible with Royaltek ...
