Hi!

I just gut my Wintec WBT-201 and i am using a mac - now I discovered HoudahGPS but unfortunately it does not work with my GPS receiver. And here is why:

Please look at my settings in the attachment - they are all right. But when I click on acquire the bar just hangs forever to abort with a timeout. A look at the terminal revealed why:
$ ps axu | grep -i babel
bastian 502 0.0 0,0 76924 848 ?? Ss 10:53pm 0:00.01 /Users/bastian/Downloads/HoudahGPS.app/Contents/Resources/gpsbabel -t -w -i dg-100 -f /dev/cu.G-Rays2-SPPslave-1 -o kml,units=m -F/var/folders/ty/tyhiGC7LGZuc3T4okBCEwU+++TI/-Tmp-/8C49E934-8EA8-43E3-8ECB-5BFDBCBC7D84-474-000000CE82425BD4.kml

HoudahGPS calls gpsbabel with the wrong parameters. It uses "-i dg-100" instead of "-i wbt".

Could you fix that?

Thanks and bye - and merry xmas!

BAstian

For those who cannot await the fix here the workaround that I am using right now:

Start the terminal and go into your HoudahGPS Folder, usually:
cd /Applications/HoudahGPS.app
In there go into the Directory where gpsbabel is stored:
cd Contents/Resources
There you will find gpsbabel which is being called with the wrong command line parameters. Rename it to gpsbabel_bin using the following command:
mv gpsbabel gpsbabel_bin
Now create a bash script called gpsbabel and paste the following content into it (vim will work, cat does also):
#!/bin/bash

`dirname $0`/gpsbabel_bin `echo $* | sed -E s/dg-100/wbt/g`
It modifies the command line parameters. It replaces dg-100 with wbt.

Now you have to make your new script executable:
chmod +x gpsbabel
Now you're done.

NOTE: HoudahGPS will now stop working for the GlobalSat DG-100/BT-335 GPS Devices.

Thanks Arnulf/Bastian for posting this.

As an alternative, I would suggest you give HoudahGPS 3.1b1 a try. This is beta software: I just finished work on it this morning. It may still have some bugs.

HoudahGPS 3.1 changes much of the internal structure of HoudahGPS. This does away with known bugs, but may temporarily have introduced new ones. The new structure will allow for faster upgrades as GPSBabel moves forward.

Best,
Pierre Bernard

Hi!

Thanks for the new release - it does fix the bug and therefore works for me!

Actually the only problem is, that you got the link wrong. The right one seems to be http://www.houdah.com/houdahGPS/download_assets/HoudahGPS%203.1b1.zip

Thanks again!

Bastian
