Looking for images by date modified does not show the files that have been modified according to my Finder information under Date Modified. Houdah Spot finds dates of Content Modified that are not correct. I have updated the sync on Spotlight, but that doesn't help.
I would post a picture, but there is no way for me to upload a screen grab. I do not have a personal URL.

Files can have two modification dates:

- "Modified" : This is the files system modification date. When the file was last changed
- "Content Modified" : This is the date the content of the file was modified

These dates are often, but not always the same. For example: when you take a photo the content was created and modified at the moment you take took it. Later you export the photo from Aperture. This creates a new file. That file was creates and modified much later. Its content however is still the one you created at the time you took the photo. Thus the content created / modified dates differ list that older date.

I have noticed that not all applications update the content modification date. E.g. I have Photoshop files where content modification date still has the date the file was created even though the image has been edited since.

You may want to customize your default setup to search by "Modified" rather than "Content Modified": https://blog.houdah.com/2018/06/customize-your-houdahspot-search-setup/

OK, I tried your suggestion. I put in Modified after date and Modified before date and then gave it part of a file name. It didn't find the file that had been modified today. Yes this was a photoshop file. Any other suggestions? I tried it with 2 pdf files that I were just created using the Content Created after date and Content Created before date and NOTHING! I really like your program and have used it a lot, but now it doesn't want to work with dates. Terribly disappointing.

Hi!

Are you able to find the file by searching only by name?

You can see the file dates in the Info pane and Info window: https://blog.houdah.com/2018/01/inspect-file-metadata-with-houdahspot/
Does the file have the expected modification date?

Best,
Pierre Bernard
