For some reason, on one of my Macs, Houdahspot is now returning "No files found" for any search I do on external HDs.
Ie I'm looking at a Finder window showing the top level of an external HD. I enter the name of one of the folders I can see there into the top search field of HS. Set the location to the name of the external drive, but not change any of the other filters. Hit Go. No files found.
Any ideas about what might cause this to happen?

Latest HoudahSpot (4.4.1) , latest Mac OS (10.14.3), iMac Retina 2017

thanks
David

HoudahSpot searches the Spotlight index.
Please check that the drive is not excluded from indexing by way of System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy.

What file system is the drive formatted for?

Ah. When I checked the Spotlight control panel, it looks like I had, for some obscure reason, excluded my external audio drive from Spotlight. presumably it will re-index when I restart (couldn't see an option to force re-indexing).

Indexing should start as soon as you remove the drive from the list. It may take time. Best to leave the Mac running overnight.
