Nice app... but?

I've noticed once the iPhone app times out or auto lock has engaged the connection is lost to my PC.  I believe this is normal and has been mentioned in other posts.

Once the app is restarted, still no printing even though the iPhone is connected to the PC.

My workaround is to switch the iPhone off, restart, open the app, connection... perfect print!

As long as I keep printing  to keep the auto lock from engaging, fine.  As I mentioned restarting the app does not help.  Reboot the iPhone, then fine. 

Any ideas please?

Hi!

Sorry to hear you are experiencing problems.

It seems ACTPrinter fails to reactivate the printing service when it returns to foreground. Instead of restarting the phone, you could just kill ACTPrinter using the application switcher reached by double-clicking the Home button.

Please try the new version of ACTPrinter released today. It should improve the reliability of the print service.

I appreciate the quick reply.

I'm running the 2.6 beta and and I've tried your workaround, but alas, no success.  Still the same result.

Rebooting the iPhone is a surefire fix, albeit not an ideal one.

I meant the latest version of ACTPrinter on iPhone. An update was released today.

Hi there,

I have the latest app version... I only purchased it yesterday.  Still the same outcome after reinstalling etc.

Any other suggestions that may help? The app would be perfect if this little glitch wasn't there.

Hi!

The latest version of ACTPrinter contains several fixes to the printing mechanism. Unfortunately it seems that one of those fixes broke compatibility with iPhone multitasking. If you leave the application to access the home screen, printing may not work once you return to the application.
I am still not sure why and how this happens, but I will try to come up with a bug fix release as soon as possible.

Please try the following workaround:

- Go to the iPhone Home screen by pressing the Home button
- Press the Home button twice to activate the application switcher
- In the application switcher, press and hold the ACTPrinter icon
- A red minus button should appear on the ACTPrinter icon. Tap it
- Press the Home button to leave the application switcher
- Launch ACTPrinter
