I just updated to Houdahspot 4.1.1 and suddenly Houdaspot isn't finding anything. I click the little "Go" button and it returns instantly, saying "No files found." (This happens no matter what I search for, in any field.) Has anyone else experienced this? I've tried it from my user account and from my Administrator account and the behavior is the same.

Hi!

Sorry to hear you are experiencing problems.

1. Please check the search locations. Do this point to a folder that no longer exists
2. Try reverting to the default search setup. Go to HoudahSpot > Preferences > General and select Factory Default
3. Try HoudahSpot 4.0.10
5. Try rebooting your Mac
6. Try rebuilding the Spotlight index

Hi, Pierre,

I've tried using Spotlight and Spotlight can't find my files, either, so I'll bet it's the spotlight index.

Oddly, it seems to be able to find files outside my home folder hierarchies, but it isn't finding anything inside /User/xxx accounts. I'm not completely sure how to rebuild the spotlight index but I'll Google it and give it a go. Thanks for pointing me in what appears to be a useful direction!

Hi!

To rebuild the Spotlight index:

1. Go to System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy
2. Add your startup disk to the list. Add the whole disk. Not just folders.
3. Wait a bit to be sure the old Spotlight index is deleted
4. Remove the startup disk from the Privacy list
5. Leave the computer running overnight to rebuild the index

Best,

Pierre Bernard
