Is ACTPrinter Mac v1.1.3 supposed to automatically launch when the "Print to iPhone" PDF service is selected? I'm finding that I have to manually creating PDFs and dragging them onto the ACTPrinter icon every time I want to print something to my iPhone. It doesn't seem to matter what application I use; even Preview won't launch ACTPrinter.

And even when the application is already active, with the iPhone application running, ACTPrinter doesn't notice that the iPhone is available on the network. It only notices the presence of the iPhone when I use the PDF drag and drop method.

Hi!

ACTPrinter Mac is supposed to launch automatically.

Please verify that you have only one copy of ACTPrinter Mac installed. It is best to have ACTPrinter Mac installed in the Applications folder.

I would suggest you re-install the PDF service installed by ACTPrinter Mac. First remove the "Print to iPhone" from the ~/Library/PDF Services folder where ~ represents your home folder.

Then launch the ACTPrinter Mac application. It should confirm that it has installed ACTPrinter Mac.

Did as instructed, though I also had to remove the ACTPrinter Quartz filter from the Filters folder first due to an "insufficient privileges" issue (the account is an administrative account, so permissions shouldn't be an issue). However, ACTPrinter still won't launch automatically, nor automatically print.

Hi!

That is really odd. I assume that for some reason the "Print to iPhone" copy cannot find the location where you have installed ACTPrinter Mac.

"Print to iPhone" is a Automator workflow. You may open and edit it using Automator. There you may point it to your copy of ACTPrinter Mac.

It appears that the "Run Shell Script" action is failing. On a hunch, I tried changing the selected shell in the action from "bin/tcsh" to "bin/bash", and that appeared to fix the problem. I don't know if doing so resolved the location of the ACTPrinter app, since that was in the default Application folder, but changing the shell back to "bin/tcsh" cause the action to fail again. My default shell is bash, BTW.

Also, when I opened the "Print to iPhone" action for the first time, I got, "The workflow was saved with an older version of the action 'Apply Quartz Filter to PDF Documents'. Some behavior may have changed." error message.

Hi!

The warning about an older version of the action being used stems from the fact that the workflow was created on Tiger. This way I can be sure it is compatible with both Tiger and Leopard.

I would appreciate if you could try again with /bin/tcsh and check /Application/Utilities/Console.app for error messages.

The only message I see in the system.log of Console when the tcsh shell is selected is:
