I'm finding myself confused about the Aperture integration for older pictures already in Aperture before HG. Can't see the new EXIF data in Aperture after Geo coding it in HG?

I launch HoudahGeo and select a photo from my Aperture library, drag it into HG and locate it on the map to get lat/lon. If I write the EXIF however even with the tag originals/masters selected, I see nothing reflected in my Aperture library.

I have quit Aperture before choosing Export menu>write EXIF tags. (is this necessary?) When relaunching Aperture, there is still no lat/lon.

Is it necessary to save a copy, import that copy with the EXIF data to Aperture?

Then, to avoid duplicates, it seems that one would have to delete the original from Aperture??

I have turned off load iphoto libraries in HG Preferences, and turned on Preload libraries, and load aperture library. Also, turned on Share Previews with Ilife/iphoto in Aperture.

A further issue, is images that have been altered prior to geotagging and retaining those changes.

Thanks,
eve

Hi!

You are doing everything correctly. You are just missing the last step. In Aperture, you need to tell it to reload EXIF metadata from the contextual menu on the photo.

dear Pierre,
many thanks, that's wonderful! it worked! but-- it did not put in the reverse Geocode info. that is in HG. Is there some way to get it in there?

Hi!

Sorry, there is none that I know of. I guess we should report that as a bug/feature request.

Reverse geocoding information goes int IPTC tags. Aperture however only reloads EXIF tags.
