Not sure if I'm just missing the settings for this, but I can't seem to get the BlitzSearch to use the default Template that I've configured through the Preferences. Without this ability, the BlitzSearch becomes less usable when searching for things like Keywords and such.

Thanks,

Hi!

BlitzSearch searches by name and text content just like the default Spotlight interface.

It does use the preferred template, but augments it with the name and text content criteria.

Pierre,

Thanks for the response. The question I have then is why do I get different results using BlitzSearch vs. the default Spotlight interface? If I search for "@Order" (quotes are here for emphasis only) within the Spotlight interface, I get all the items that have been tagged with this tag. Using BlitzSearch, I don't see a majority of these items. If I take the BlitzSearch form and add a 'Keywords' item and put "@Order" in there and redo the query, I now match the Spotlight interface.

Thanks,

Hi!

This would mean that the default interface also searches Keywords. This is a fact I was not aware of.

Heh

Okay, I'd like to file an enhancement request that the BlitzSearch also searches Keywords by default.

Keep up the good work. I think this is a great program!

Hi!

I agree that BlitzSearch should/could be customizable.

May I suggest the Blitz search be customized.

One thing I'd like to be able to search specifically in BlitzSearch (or just through a template via LaunchBar) would be OpenMeta tags.

Hi!

You should be able to achieve that using AppleScript
tell application "HoudahSpot"         tagSearch "WWDC" end tell
I have an AppleScript to search OpenMeta tags with HoudahSpot that I activate with LaunchBar:

on handle_string(theString)

        tell application "HoudahSpot"

                (tagSearch theString)

        end tell

end handle_string

Is it possible for this script to use a specific HoudahSpot template I've created? If so how?

Hi!

There is currently no way to specify a template for the tag search.

Ah, OK.

It looks like it's possible with regular Blitz searches?

Please consider being able to specify which template you want to search tags for via ApplieScript in the future

When I select a template in BlitzSearch
from the drop down menu the resulting
search does not use that template’s search criteria.

It always uses what I believe to be the default criteria.

When I’m in HoudahSpot itself the templates
open as expected with my saved search criteria.

This anomaly keeps me from using the program
as much as I would.

Why have a drop down menu
to select templates if it does nothing?

Am I missing something here?

Thanks   ...   Ken

Hi!

BlitzSearch starts with the template you have selected:
it's criteria, search locations, sort order, columns, …

Then it add the 4 BlitzSearch criteria: any text, file name, text content and comments
It fills in those you have selected.

There have been frequent request for a feature that would fill in existing criteria in a template.
I however still have no good idea for how that would work to fit everyone's needs.

What if there are two name criteria? Which one should HoudahSpot fill in?
What if there is no name criterion? Should HoudahSpot auto-magically guess you want it to fill in the Subject criterion?
