For some reason, bookmarks created in version 2.x seem to have far lower coordinates precision than version 1.x.

Version 1.x saved the coordinates to 13 significant digits after decimal point.
Version 2.x, however, saves only up to 3 significant digits.

This has been confirmed by looking at the preference file generated by HoudahGeo. Although HoudahGeo respects the saved coordinates' precision, new and edited bookmarks get far lower precision, leading to errors in several tens of meters.

I hope this problem is rectified in the next version. I still use your custom version that fixed the metadata problem created by Kodak Easyshare because you haven't updated the official version yet.

Yes, unfortunately, even with the most recent version (2.2.9). Refer to the screenshot. As you can see, it only shows up to three digits of precision, and even if I enter more digits, it truncates to this.

I am currently running the most recent version of Mac OS X (10.5.8), but the problem has persisted for quite a while, so I do not believe it to be some sort of version-specific thing.

Hi!

I have just had a look at the code. I see nothing which would limit the number of digits.

Does it also occur when geocoding photos using the map? I.e. do the photos get 3 or more digits?

This would help me understand if the problem is with extracting the coordinates from the map or with saving them to bookmarks.

Best,
Pierre Bernard

If I just use the map (i.e. drag the map around), or select the existing bookmark to geocode, the photos have normal precision. It's only when I try to make a new bookmark or edit the existing ones that the precision is compromised.

FYI, the latest version (2.3) solves half of the problem. The latitude part has the precision restored, but the longitude part is still stuck with 3-digit precision.

Hi!

Thanks! I think I finally nailed it.

I had made a change in 2.3 and forgotten to apply it to longitude.

Ah, that is good to hear. I guess it'll be solved completely when 2.3.1 comes around, then?

Just a quick follow-up: I have confirmed that the issue has been completely fixed as of 2.3.1 (I'm using 2.3.2 right now). Thank you!
