So on a three week trip to China and Tibet, I ran into a problem with transferring the GPS Coordinates into my JPG files... Not one picture was in the correct location. After spending about two hours adjusting the time offsets and trying to get on the internet: Yes anything Google is blocked by the government as well as access to load a VPN to get around the problem.

The problem turns out is that there are only two countries China and Russia that have their own GPS satellites and they have their own positioning algorithm...They say it is it provides better features than the standard...but the reality is that they use this to make military location (non-china) difficult. I gave up reverse geo-coding my pictures from the map...about 2000 JPGs.

So my request is that you(Houdah) provide a translation option on the "import tracklogs" when the log data is loaded to translate from the Chinese to the GPS standard. I believe Google Maps already does this..(Google is blocked in China).

Where did you get the Chinese coordinates from?

Do you have a GPS device that creates log files using a Chinese geodetic datum?
I read that China uses an obfuscated coordinate system. Conversion to WGS-84 should not be possible without an appropriate license.

I have a Colombus V-990 data logger (https://www.amazon.com/Columbus-V-990-Logger-microSD-Recording/dp/B005ZKAXA2). I've been using it since my Sony A6500 camera doesn't have an integrated GPS. It collected the Satellite data while in China and Tibet but when I was integrating the GPS log in my JPGs, via HOUDAHGPS, nothing was correct when displayed with the HOUDAHGPS App...off by kilometers...both the Longitude and Lattitude were "off!"  As soon as I got out of China, all new logs logs were correct

When I was in China many years ago, my GPS was a bit off, but still usable.

I am going to guess that GPS is jammed in China and Russia.

So I sent you one or more of the logs... Any insight gained?
