yessssss
This keeps typing the same character repeatedly. I tried replying to an email on my iPhone.
Instead of getting the single word 'Yes.', I got "Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss..." untill I quit Type2phone.

Hi!

What version of Mac OS X are you running?
I have one report of problems on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Please give this beta a try:

Please let me know how that works for you.

Yes.
The beta works, thanks.
No other issues.

Time to push it out, me thinks...

Hi!

Thank you for reporting back.

Based on recent experience it will take about 10 days for Apple to review the update.
Meanwhile you can keep using the beta.

I was just about to report the same issue, saw the beta, and it works for me as well.

OS X 10.6.8

Thanks for the fast turnaround. Type2Phone has been far more useful to me than I thought it would be.

Now if only Apple would allow "Send" to be hit…

Hmm. However the next time I connected it didn't. It connects, the keyboard goes away, characters are displayed locally in the T2P app, but they are not sent to the iPad. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi!

Sorry, I have to ask the obvious:

Did you have a cursor / insertion point where text should go on the iPad?

If you have both versions of Type2Phone installed on your system, please make sure you are running the latest one.

Please check /Applications/Utilities/Console.app > All Messages for error messages from Type2Phone.

Best,
Pierre Bernard

Thanks much! I'll look for the error messages in Console.

So to confirm
  • cursor in text field on iPad - correct
  • running beta version - correct
  • Console messages showing - correct but no errors, just statemachine messages, connect/disconnect, etc.
  • Consumer/Function keys actually work
  • Text still doesn't work
Let me know if there is something I should look for in the console. I also did a complete uninstall (plist, etc.) and re-paired with the iPad.

Thanks!

Just thought I should try rebooting the iPad just in case. Aaaaaaand after rebooting we're back in business. I'll see if it fails at any point again.

Hi!

Thank you for posting these details.

First off I am glad to hear Type2Phone is again working for you.

I'll see if I can come up with an explanation of what went wrong.
If I can do that, I will also be able to fix this so it does not happen again.
So far I am stumped.

Pierre Bernard

I'm having the same problem of endlessly repeating characters. I tried to download the beta from the link provided, but no longer works.

I'm running 10.6.8. I've updated Type2Phone via the App Store to Version 2.0.3 (463) - on 13.04.13.

What can I try next??!

Hi!

Type2Phone 2.0.3 should work fine on Mac OS X 10.6.8

Please check /Applications/Utilities/Console.app for error messages

Wow - a quick response!

I'm not getting as many repeating letters as before the update - but still quite a lot...

I'm not seeing much in Console:

18/04/2013 17:40:52    Type2Phone[4174]    statemachine: state OUTGOING_W4_CONTROL, event HID_CONTROL_OUTGOING_CONNECTED, control 0x61fa40, interrupt 0x0, channel 0x0
18/04/2013 17:40:52    Type2Phone[4174]    statemachine: state OUTGOING_W4_INTERRUPT, event HID_INTERRUPT_OUTGOING_CONNECTED, control 0x61fa40, interrupt 0x629450, channel 0x0

Tried again:
18/04/2013 17:45:59    Type2Phone[4190]    statemachine: state INIT, event BT_POWER_ON, control 0x0, interrupt 0x0, channel 0x0
18/04/2013 17:45:59    Type2Phone[4190]    statemachine: state READY, event USER_OUTGOING_REQUEST, control 0x0, interrupt 0x0, channel 0x0
18/04/2013 17:46:00    Type2Phone[4190]    statemachine: state OUTGOING_W4_CONTROL, event HID_CONTROL_OUTGOING_CONNECTED, control 0x51c7f0, interrupt 0x0, channel 0x0
18/04/2013 17:46:00    Type2Phone[4190]    statemachine: state OUTGOING_W4_INTERRUPT, event HID_INTERRUPT_OUTGOING_CONNECTED, control 0x51c7f0, interrupt 0x42f7c0, channel 0x0
18/04/2013 17:46:36    Type2Phone[4190]    statemachine: state CONNECTED, event USER_DISCONNECT_REQUEST, control 0x51c7f0, interrupt 0x42f7c0, channel 0x0

Hope this helps!

Hi!

The log looks all good. No errors.

Please try rebooting your Mac.

Sometimes when your Mac is otherwise busy, it can take too long between sending a "key down" and a "key up" event. The iPhone then assumes you held the key down.

Best,
Pierre Bernard

Repeating keys:

Cured! Had to restart my phone - I initially tried restarting my mac, but that didn't help, so then tried phone; and problem resolved.
