I've exported a smart folder from HoudahSpot (for files created by a certain application), but the smart folder finds nothing.

The search found plenty inside of HS. What could I be missing here?

Hi!

Can you save and email the HoudahSpot search to support at houdah.com?

Best,

Pierre Bernard

Here's the contents of the exported smart search.
Curiously, or not, I get a warning message every time I export a smart search that location isn't supported. That seems irrelevant, since no search I've exported specifies any location. In any case, I see no way to turn off locations completely.

Hi!

What version of OS X are you using?
The saved search works fine here under OS X El Captian.

What language is your system set to?
The kind names (e.g. "Scrivener Project”) can vary by language.

Best,

Pierre Bernard

Dang, you're right! [redface]  I assumed it was the same as this one, which does not work.

I see results inside HoudahSpot but nothing in the Finder.

Hi!

Please try the following:

1. Run the search for “Kind is Tinderbox Document” in HoudahSpot
2. Open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app
3. Type “mdls “. Without the quotes, but with the trailing space.
4. Drag a Tinderbox Document from HoudahSpot search results to Terminal. This will append the path of the file to the “mdls “ command you typed.
5. Press the Return key. This will output metadata Spotlight has for the file. There should be a row labelled kMDItemKind. It shoudl say "Tinderbox Document”.

I have uploaded a HoudahSpot search and a Finder Smart Folder to https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2381634/HoudahSpot/Tinderbox.zip
These search for file with Kind
"Tinderbox Document”.

Best,

Pierre Bernard
