As there is currently no option to get the Places GPS Information inside the Master File, this would be a real added value for a lot of Aperture Users.

Therefore one could open a Aperture Library and do the geocoding either in Aperture or in HoudahGeo (using Tracklog Files) and could export the results back to the Master Files.

It's currently easier to do manual geotagging in Aperture as the Google Maps are more detailed (at least for my Last trip to Jordan) than the Bing Maps.

Hopefully the places database is not locked down...

Daniel

Hi!

Thank you for the feedback.

This is already quite high on my todo list.
Currently I have 3 ideas in mind for getting to the data. These still need to be tested for feasibility.

Have you tried MapBox maps?
I actually find these to be superior to Bing maps. And they are improving at a rapid pace.

Hi

I need Satellite Images to do the accurate tagging, and currently only Bing in HoudahGeo has the required resolution, but still inferior than Google...

Good to hear that you are trying to get the data out of places ;-)

Hi!

Which location are you looking at?

All locations I checked, MapBox had the same imagery as Bing.
Since the MapBox has announced cloudless satellite imagery. I imagine that meant an improvement across the board.

Hi!

I just looked at a street in Amman.

- MapBox lacks imagery at higher zoom levels. Seems like a bug
- Bing Maps have quite good imagery
- Google Maps has blurry / out of focus images

Hi

Sorry for the delay in responding. I was looking at Dana Village

30.67560° N
35.60952° E

https://maps.google.com/maps?t=h&q=loc:30.675596,35.609519&z=17

Your right, Google Maps is not very clear. But even then I recognize more of where I have been.
Maybe the images are more recent....

Anyway maybe we get some nice MapBox Images in the future...

Best regards
Daniel

BTW: did you test some of your ideas to get to the places information ?
