I just bought the app and I'm already loving it. It isn't any more nor less than what you would expect from it. It's just great.

I have some feature requests:

1- shortcut for "send", "reply" or whatever-button next to a text field while typing; that would be awesome for the Messages app and other IM apps like Whatsapp. Something like cmd+return or shift+return would be more than ok

2- shortcut for "home" button... Esc maybe

3- shortcut for app switching... not sure how would this be possible though

4- persistent layout selection (instead of having to change it manually on every run... pretty annoying actually)

Is there any ETA for v1.3?
Thanks!

Hi!

1. This is currently only possible with a Jailbreak hack. Hopefully Apple will some day add a keyboard shortcut to the send button.

2. We are working on that.

3. I doubt that will be possible.

4. Layout selection within Type2Phone should be persistent. Do you need to change it from the flag menu each time you run Type2Phone?

Hi, thanks for your quick reply!

I knew about the jailbreak tweak you mention, but I'd rather prefer a non-jailbreak solution if it's possible. Meanwhile, I'll keep tapping the Send button

When I said layout I was actually referring to the View modes, which keep changing on every run. Keyboard layout is ok, sorry about the confusion.

Cheers!!

Hi!

View modes will be persistent in Type2Phone 1.3.

The hack (3KB) worked flawlessly.

Awesome! Now my Type2Phone is a complete experience... 10/10.

Thanks!

The view mode isn't persistent in 1.3. I have to change it back to Collapsed each time I launch it.

Hi!

I just verified the view mode to be persistent in 1.3.

Please try deleting the preferences file at ~/Library/Preferences/com.houdah.MagicKeyboard.plist

It is not. After attempting your suggestion, I discovered the following:

After the preference is set and while the app is still running, collapsedMode is set to true in the plist:

<key>collapsedMode</key>
<true/>

When the app is quit, this remains set to true. However, when the app is relaunched, a new plist is generated that switches collapsedMode to false:

<key>collapsedMode</key>
<false/>

So, the plist is rewritten at launch. This defeats attempts to manually enter "true" in a plist editor as a workaround. Every time the app is launched, the file gets a new modification date which equals the time the app was last launched.

I also noticed the presence of "com.houdah.MagicKeyboard.plist.lockfile" which is persistent. It remains after the app is quit and its modification date never changes.

I have tested this on my iMac 27" and MBA 11" with the same results. Both are running v1.3 on Mac OS X 10.7.3. The MBA was updated to 10.7.3 via the Combo Updater. The iMac was updated via Software Update.

Please advise. This is a small but annoying issue.

Hi!

I believe I have discovered the issue. Unfortunately this probably comes too late for the 1.3.1 update.

The collapsed mode is cancelled when the window is resized. Upon launch the previous window position is restored. This is sometimes interpreted as a window resizing operation.

You might be able to work around the issue by not moving the window away from its default position. I am however still not sure why this repositioning is sometimes seen as resizing.

Thank you for looking into this issue futher.

To clarify, these tests were performed without interacting with the window. The only actions taken were:

- Launch app
- Change View to Collapsed Mode
- Quit app

This was repeated many times to document the results.

I look forward to 1.3.1 *and* 1.3.2.

This app is truly excellent, as is the responsiveness from the developer.
