Hello,

I am new to GPS and HoudahGeo. I am looking to upload my photo track to google maps. Is there any info on this that some one could point me to.

Thanks!

Hi!

Publishing to Google Maps is actually a very tricky subject.

You need a web space to host your image files as well as the KML file exported by HoudahGeo.

While exporting to KML, HoudahGeo will ask where you plan to host the files. The directory structure created by HoudahGeo then needs to be reproduced as is at the server location.

Once that is done, you may reference the KML file from Google Maps.

Thanks for your reply...

I have a web site, so hosting images and KML files is not a problem. Does Google Maps give you an option to point to these files? Is it it part of the standard Google Maps interface?

I know these are not HoudahGeo specific questions, but your information so far is encouraging.

I would prefer not to use Google Earth so intended audience does not need to install  or learn any software.

Other flickr and Locr  are OK, but if it works out, like the Google Maps interface.

Thanks again!

Hi!

You may enter the URL to a KML file in the Google Maps search field.

You should have a look at the "My Maps" feature in Google Maps which allows for bookmarking KML files.
