I'm thinking about getting Houdah Pro to geocode our pictures.  I don't usually think to change the time on the camera when we cross timezone boundaries.  I'm reluctant to get a GPS tracker and Houdah Pro if this could be an issue.

Hi!

For HoudahGeo to work the camera time zone must not change over the course of a project. There are workaround, but I strongly recommend you do not adjust the camera clock as you cross time zones.

HoudahGeo needs to know what time zone your camera was set to. Any time zone will do: your home time zone, destination time zone, GMT, …

My wife and I were on a cruise at the beginning of January.  The first stop was Grand Cayman (EST), then Honduras, Belize & Cozumel (all CST) - all on different days.  The ship itself kept EST.  So would the GPS tracker switch time zones?  Would this cause confusion within the the software?  Do the trackers record UTC time for all of the coordinates, setting the camera to UTC would solve that problem.

I'll admit to being anxious.

Hi!

The GPS track logger always records UTC time.

You may set the camera to any time zone you like. HoudahGeo will ask what time zone the camera was set to.
