I'm using HS 3.5.8 (4567) on a MacPro runnning 10.7.5. On more than one occasion, HS will not find a file, even though the file is there. Spotlight cannot find it either, but other non-Spotlight based file utilities can locate the file. What do I need to do to keep Spotlight "healthy" so it can make successful searches and HS can work properly? Thanks.

Hi!

The Spotlight index may indeed become corrupted. I however find that this has become a very rare occurrence in recent versions of Mac OS X.
Please try rebuilding your Spotlight index using the third party Spotless tool.

Please check your Spotlight preferences to see if the files you are looking for are not in a location excluded from indexing.
By default Spotlight also excludes some system files and folders as well as certain types of invisible files.

I'm thinking there must be something else going on here. The files are in directories in which  Spotlight/HS can find other files. Can the Spotlight database drop a file here and there?

Hi!

That sure sounds like a corrupted Spotlight index.
Try reindexing.

OK. I'll give Spotless a try and let you know.

Thanks.
