I thought Houdahspot's Local volumes + user home setting searched the trash but I discovered today that it doesn't. I assume this may be because Spotlight doesn't index the trash but I don't know that for sure. Is there a way to include searching the trash?

I also did a search using "Local volumes + user home" and it skipped my Library folder. The item was in there and HS found it when I placed it on the desktop but not when it was in the Library folder. I then noticed that Library was a separate criteria and when I chose it, all was good.

I have four internal drives on my MacPro and several externals as well as mounted disk images.

Is there a setting that will search EVERYTHING without having to set all the different criteria individually?

Hi!

HoudahSpot searches the Spotlight index. This excludes the Trash and much of the Library folder.

HoudahSpot / Spotlight can find files in folders that are not indexed by Spotlight under the following conditions:
  1. You point HoudahSpot directly at the folder you want to search in
  2. Search only by basic file system attributes: name, dates, kind. Spotlight metadata is not available

How do you select the trash "folder" in Houdahspot?

Hi!

There are actually several trash folders. Per account. Per drive. To access the one in your account:

1. Select Other… from a Location pop-up menu in HoudahSpot
2. Hit command-shift-G in the file open window
3. Enter: ~/.Trash in the sheet window
4. Click Go. Then Select
