I'd like to know what the current situation/support is for iPhoto 11 as there seem not many posts on this version.

Most of all, I want to know if a post-import workflow will be possible, so my wife can do the initial import to iPhoto via USB as usual unattended, but I can come along later an with as few steps as possible, merge the GPS logger file into iPhoto without having to re-export/re-import the photos.

Ideally I'd like to see the steps in a user manual with screen prints - has anyone done a blog on exactly this scenario perhaps?

I suppose I could try out the free, limited version first but have not purchased a GPS logger yet, first I want to see if any software will support that really simple workflow, to get my photos from a non-GPS camera into iPhoto on a Mac, then merge in that logging file afterwards so those photos become geotagged and map-locatable within iPhoto.

Hi!

I am sorry I did not see your message earlier.

Yes, HoudahGeo works fine with iPhoto'11.

The trial version includes full printable documentation in the Help menu.
This has detailed descriptions of several suggested workflows.
There are however no screenshots.

Geocoding is easiest with a GPS track logger.
HoudahGeo however offers several other options: reference photos, map, Google Earth, …

Hi, thanks for coming back, in fact I am using Houdah now on the Mac and yes, it integrates nicely with iPhoto 11 via the 'Notify iPhoto' feature.

It would be really nice if the complete functionality could work like gps4cam apps on Android and IOS do, that is, you take one picture of QR coded image on the phone app that has been tracking your movements, and this image provides enough info for the Mac program to completely sync the time stamps for perfectly accurate tagging.

This could be achieved either by:
A gps4cam plug-in for Houdahgeo
or
A Houdahgeo plug-in for gps4cam
or
A phone App for Houdah that does a similar QR code trick...

The great benefit would be that iPhoto 11 integration that only Houdah offers, so a 1 step import to iPhoto on the Mac is possible!

Hi!

I have only recently learned about gps4cam.
I have yet to have a closer look at it.

Hi!

HoudahGeo 3.4 is now able to process gps4cam QR codes to extract track logs and / or to sync camera clock.
