Using the trial 2.2.2 version and updating 5 iphoto library photo's, in places the pushpin shows "unnamed". When I "tag" and export to a directory, then import into iphoto 09 the place is shown correctly.

Is there a difference of what is being updated in the EXIF or why does it work correctly imported the geotagged photo into iphoto '09 and not when updating from the library?

Hi!

Thanks for your interest in HoudahGeo.

Please update your copy to version 2.2.4. This and other issues with iPhoto integration have been addressed.

Same problem with 2.2.4

If I import from directory, geotag from gpx track file, export back to filesystem, then import into iphoto '09 - then in places it shows the correct location.

If I import from iphoto '09, geotag from gpx track file, and update back into iphoto '09 then the places show "unamed location"

I tried rebuilding the iphoto '09 library and it still has "unamed location".

Hi!

From the description of your workflow, it seems you skipped the "reverse geocoding" step.

Hi!

If you are using iPhoto 8.0.2, you also have the option to select "Rescan for Location" from the contextual menu.

This works for some file types, but fails silently for others.

A weird stuff with the 8.0.2 version. You're right, we can rescan the places. But... we can't no longer define our own places. Or didn't find how to do that again.

I am not familar with the "reverse geocoding" step - in iphoto or geo?

Also in iphoto '09 8.0.2 I do not see Rescan for location and it doesn't seem to be in the help as well.

if you can provide more information that would be great otherwise I guess I can just export to a file and import into iphoto as this seems to work.

Did a CONTROL mouse click and found the Rescan for location.  tried for one picture and a group of pictures and it still says "unnamed location".

If you can provide more information on the "reverse geocode"...as you said I was missing this when I was trying to have the photo's updated in iphoto '09.

Again doing the same process, but exporting to a file and then importing into iphoto the place is correct....so not sure what is different assuming the same EXIF information is being updated whether updating back to iphoto or to the exported file.

Thanks again.

Hi!

Reverse geocoding is the process of determining a place name from geo coordinates.

In HoudahGeo it is triggered by the last button in Step 2.
