Hello everybody!

I have the japanese text in my Mac. So I copy it by CMD + C and I try to past it on my iPhone 5 (iOS 6) by the Type2Phone. But, I can not. I just can if it is English text. Can somebody help me?

Thanks.

Hi!

Which keyboard layout are you using on Type2Phone and on iPhone?

Are you switching keyboard layouts between pasting English text and Japanese text?

Japanese text can only be pasted using a Japanese keyboard layout.
The US keyboard layout lacks the keys to input Japanese characters.

Hello Pierre Bernard,

Yes, I tried Japanese layout too. I tried every thing. But, I couldn't paste the japanese text. Could you past it?

Thanks.

Hi!

I did some tests and now am utterly confused.

First off: pasting using the Japanese keyboard layout does not seem to work.

Where I get confused is when I use the Kana layout on Mac.
When I hit the keyboard key that is labelled "s". The text display in Type2Phone shows "". So does TextEdit.

The Mac OS X keyboard view however labels that key with a different letter or symbol. Same as the key slide animation.

So far, I'd say all is good. I guess several key presses will be needed to complete that letter.
The key slide animation shows keyboard keys and does not wait for letters to be completed.

Where it gets confusing is that iOS does show that keyboard key label just as if it were a letter.

I believe that is where the pasting problem comes from.
During typing, Type2Phone looks up the keyboard key, finds it and sends it to iPhone.
During pasting, Type2Phone gets letters and fails to find the matching keyboard key.

Which keyboard layout are you using on Mac and iPhone?
I tried Katakana on Mac and found only Kana on iPhone.

Hello!

No I understood. So the Type2Phone tries to find the same character in the iPhone keyboard to past it. That's why it doesn't work. In Japanase, it's different from alphabet. The keyboard doesn't have all Kanjis. You have to type more than once to get one Kanji.

However, I thought that Type2Phone really send the copy from the Mac.

Thanks anyway.

Hi!

Type2Phone emulates a Bluetooth keyboard. It sends keystrokes.

I.e. it would need to figure out which keys need to be pressed in order to create the characters in the pasted text.
