Hi,

I want to buy Houdah Spot, but I can’t find it in the Mac App Store. And I want buy it via Mac App Store, because there are automatic updates with Power Nap and I don’t have to update it manually.

Kind Regards
Gerhard

Hi!

HoudahSpot is not available on the Mac App Store.

There is no way to provide HoudahSpot's feature set within the confines of the rules imposed by the Mac App Store.

Ah, I understand.

What feature exactly is the problem in the MAS?

Hi!

Actually there are quite a few. I don't keep a list.

This includes many of the interesting tweaks to the query editor: find by example, duplication of criteria, selection of criteria, …

Then there is Text Preview.

And many more.

Text preview is a problem in the MAS?!? I can’t believe! Really?

You capture system is not user-friendly. I need several tries to type a correct version of the letters. It’s nearly impossible to write a comment. :-(

Hi!

Text Preview loads Spotlight plug-ins from third party applications. These are supposed to be loaded only by the Spotlight importer process.

QuickLook preview is fine. That is an official system API.

I don't think I would want an auto update feature because sometimes updates break things or add or subtract features that you don't want.

Then I bring back the old version with the time machine. This is no problem. ;-)

And when You update manually, You can have the same problems, because You don’t know the aftereffects of the update, before You update.

Sure you could bring it back with TM but then the auto update would just bring the new version back again!! With manual updates you don't have this problem because you can always read reviews (on MacUpdate and MAS) first to see if other people have unfavorable things to say about. If lots of people are saying bad things about an update they are probably right and the update should be avoid until the problems are fixed.

In this case I can switch back to manual update again. This is no problem.
