Hello and Salut:

I had a Columbus V900 for about 4 weeks on the road then promptly lost it. It worked ok, but the software and usability was not up to par especially for a mac user. To replace it, I purchased the Qstarz 1300 and it seems to be working great (especially nice to be able to use with Houdah Geo wireless using Bluetooth... something I couldn't do with the Columbus.

However, I have some questions on usage with Houdah. It seems to take progressively longer to download GPS data via Bluetooth even though I have the option for "erase" enabled. Since I have no access to the Qstarz data directly (or do I) I have no idea how many files are stored on it and how much space before I run out.

Is there a way to browse the device? Is there a way to delete the files manually? What happens when I fill its memory? Why does it take so long to load tracks to HGeo?

Any answers would be appreciated.

Hi!

You may use the freeware HoudahGPS to download tracks from the Qstarz device.

I believe the Qstarz device stops logging once memory is full.

Two more questions:

a) I'm assuming the Erase option deletes all the tracks after they have been loaded? (either in HoudahGeo or HoudahGPS)?

b) I was charging the device all night and in the morning, it didn't seem to stay on for more than a few hours before losing juice. Is there something I missing?

Thanks so much for your help and your great software.
