Hi,

I have been testing a few images, with LR as my master catalog system.

When I tag photos, both RAW and JPG, and then refresh the metadata inside LR, the RAW show GPS data, but the JPG doesn't.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong please?
I only have the selected image box and the master image box ticked when exporting.

Thanks,
Simon

Hi!

In the presence of XMP sidecars, HoudahGeo read from and writes to the sidecar files. Sidecars files are matched to their respective image files based upon their file name. Thus, if both your JPG and RAW images have the same name (without the extension), the sidecar will be matched to both files. I.e. when tagging either file, HoudahGeo will in effect write to the sidecar rather than the image files.

I do not understand why/how Lightroom considers the XMP to apply only to the RAW file.

The solution is to either have HoudahGeo "Bypass XMP sidecars" or to move the JPG files to a different location.

Best,
Pierre Bernard

Thanks for the reply.
I have both a RAW and a JPG copy of each photo, so yes they do have the same file name.

I don't have the Bypass XMP sidecars option ticked, only the Selected Images and the Tag Masters. I cannt really move the JPGs.

Hi!

If you were to tick the "Bypass sidecar" option, HoudahGeo would write to the image file rather than write to the XMP sidecar.

I believe this would be a viable option for processing the JPG files.
