With the latest releases of Houdahspot (3.6) and Path Finder (6.1.2), the context menu item 'Reveal Selection in Path Finder' is no longer working. It does bring Path Finder to the foreground, but does not go to the selection. The corresponding 'Reveal Selection in Finder' is working as usual. As a longtime Path Finder user, I hope that can be fixed easily.

Thanks.

Hi!

Reveal Selection in PathFinder appears to work fine here running HoudahSpot 3.6 and PathFinder 6.1.2 on Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2.

Which version of Mac OS X are you using?

Could you please check /Applications/Utilities/Console.app > All Messages for error messages from HoudahSpot or PathFinder?

There is a console entry from Houdahspot each time I try the 'reveal' function, e.g.:

  12/20/12 8:15:39.169 AM HoudahSpot[3582]: __CFPasteboardIssueSandboxExtensionForPath: error for [<]

Same message each time. BTW the 'get info in pathfinder' function is working normally.

Hi!

Which version of Mac OS X are you using?
I have tested this feature on both Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion.

I am seeing the __CFPasteboardIssueSandboxExtensionForPath too on my Mountain Lion system.
The message appears before I make a selection from the contextual menu.
My guess is that it is triggered by some item in the Services menu.
It does not appear to have any ill effect here.

In the HoudahSpot contextual menu you will find a submenu named Services.
There should be an option named "Reveal (Path Finder)". Does that work as expected?

Hi!

If you wish you may try downgrading to HoudahSpot 3.5.8.

I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.2

The Services -> Reveal (Path Finder) menu item works fine

I also tried downgrading to HoudahSpot 3.5.8, and am seeing the same behavior with respect to Path Finder -- the services item works but the context menu item does not.

I do see a different message in the console log with 3.5.8:

12/22/12 12:09:10.381 AM HoudahSpot[78949]: Property list invalid for format: 100 (property lists cannot contain objects of type 'CFURL')

Hi!

I have just released HoudahSpot 3.6.1.

This version uses a different technology for talking to PathFinder.
Only when that fails, it resorts to using the previously used method.

I hope you will find the new version to be more reliable when interacting with PathFinder.
