Compared to earlier versions, v 2.9.2 is pretty slow, when it comes to loading my aperture libs. With previous versions the parser was "flying", now it´s a pain. What went wrong?

Hi!

Sorry to hear you are experiencing problems.

There have been no recent changes to the Aperture parser. There is however a known problem: selecting a library in the media browser dramatically slows down the loading of that particular library. As a workaround, HoudahGeo includes your Favorites folder and by default has that selected. I.e. the loading of the Favorites folder will be slowed down. The idea / hope is for that folder to be rather empty.

The whole thing fails when you add aliases to the Favorites folder. As HoudahGeo follows these, large parts of your hard drive may be scanned for photos.

Have you recently made additions to the Favorites folder in the Finder?

Best,
Pierre Bernard

Wow, you hit the bulls eye. That was exactly the problem. I added some folders to the imedia browser via RapidWeaver, when I edited my webpage. I killed these favorites and now the parser is popping up for some fractions of a second. The whole process is screaming fast. Thanks a lot,

Another problem: Whenever I select images from the browser and drag them into the houdah geo window, the app takes ample time to display the images with their metadata, even if the number of images is very low, let´s say six photos.

Hi!

What do you consider "ample time"?

I just tested with 6 photos. It took less than 2 seconds to load the images. I counted about 20 seconds for 200 images.

8 seconds for 6 images.

That seems to be some sort of interface issue.

If I just drag the images from the browser into the houdah geo window, it will take it´s time.

If I click into that window right after the drag, the images with their metadata will show up immediately.

Hi!

There is indeed a bug: the window does not refresh until the mouse is moved.

Thank you for reporting.

Best,
Pierre Bernard
