Hi guys,

I'm user of HoudahGeo and Canon products and I would like to know if compatibility of Canon GP-E2 GPS device is on the roadmap of future versions.

Thank you!

Hi!

What kind of compatibility are you looking for?

I believe the purpose of the Canon GP-E2 GPS is to add GPS information to EXIF tags.
This information should be read by HoudahGeo.

Hi!

According to Canon, the Canon GP-E2 GPS produces NMEA files. These should work with HoudahGeo.
I.e. you can use HoudahGeo to tag you photos, see the images along the track, create Google Earth KML/KMZ files with your photos attached to the route you took, etc.

The Canon web site also says: "
Log files can be converted to KMZ files using Map Utility. Routes the camera has traveled can be viewed in Google Earth or other map software by loading the KMZ files."

Best,

Yes,

It produces NMEA files, but as you said, we need Canon Map utility to get it from GPS Device. It should be better if HoudahGEO could identified and converted directly as it does with Garmin, etc...
