Does HoudahGeo support the new Sony GPS-CS3KA?

Also, have you guys considered doing an Aperture Plugin?

Hi!

This is the first time I hear of the Sony CS3. However HoudahGeo has been tested to work with the log files produced by the CS1. Thus chances are that files from the CS3 will work too.

Currently the Aperture plugin API does not offer the features we need to perform geocoding with a plugin. For now we will continue to have HoudahGeo as standalone application and tightly integrate with all major photo libraries.

You can learn more about the Sony GPS-CS3KA at Amazon's page.  It is newly released and looks like a much-anticipated updated to the older Sony logger.  How does Houdah import logs from the Sony device?  Does it do so directly via USB?

Hi!

On the latest versions of Leopard, the CS1 mounts just like a USB drive. It contains .log files which are a Sony proprietary variation on NMEA files. HoudahGeo can import those files.

Hi

The data from sony cs3ka cannot be importet into houdahGeo - there is an error message (file cannot be convertet). Is there going to be an update anytime soon?

best wishes

Hi!

GPSBabel is thrown off by the first line in the file produced by the CS3. You may remove that first line using a text editor. After that the file will be read just fine.

Hi,
with the new version HoudahGeo 2.6.6, import log files is automatic or must follow the procedure described in the previous thread?
Thanks

Hi!

The CS3 mounts just like a USB drive. It contains .log files which are a Sony proprietary variation on NMEA files. HoudahGeo can import those files.

Rather than have HoudahGeo import tracks from device, have it load track from file and point it to the .log files.
