This morning I went looking for an OmniGraffle file using name:chg. Tembo couldn't find it. So I tried name:.graffle. Tembo found 174 files, but not the one I was looking for.

I tried Find Any File.app and found it and about 400 other files.

Then in HoudahSpot I found 425 graffle documents including the one I was looking for.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Hi!

Could it be that the file had its extension hidden in the Finder?

Tembo currently does not consider hidden extensions to be part of the file name. This will be fixed by the next update.

That's not the problem in this case.

Chg_social_and_economic_pic.graffle is the file name visible in the Finder.

I made an alias to this file and Tembo finds the alias but not the original.

I even tried searching for the entire file name above without using the name: feature, still no luck.

Stumped

Thanks

Hi!

I have just downloaded and installed OmniGraffle. It seems to default to saving files with their extension hidden. The extension will be shown nonetheless in the Finder if the advanced preference "Show all filename extensions" is enabled. Yet the extension will remain invisible to Tembo.

Please do give Tembo 1.6.1 a try.

Also, go to Tembo Preferences > Advanced and remove "dyn.*" from the list of excluded UTIs.

Hi!

I just noticed: OmniGraffle declares its files to be of type "public.xml". These will thus show in the XML group within Tembo. Please make sure you have that group enabled.

I downloaded 1.6.1 and that didn't do it.

It was the XML thing. Now when searching for name:.graffle, I get a large number in both groups. It seems OmniGraffle saves some files as flat and some as packages. Chg_social_and_economic_pic.graffle shows up in the XML group

I noticed that when I filter one of the result groups by type the count at the top of the window doesn't update. It would be nice if it did.

Thanks for helping me
