Hello:

I have a datalogger gps (qstarz q1000x), when I want import a track with Houdahgeo, the program read the track from device but not appears in the Houdahgeo.

I try to export the track from gps device to gpx format using HoudahGPS and then I have imported this file with Houdahgeo and happens the same.

In the image, the Houdahgeo program read five tracks(in the second window) but not appears in the main window.

Is Qstarz q1000x compatible with Houdahgeo?

Thanks.

Hi!

This bug has been fixed in one of the most recent releases. It is cosmetic only: the track are indeed loaded and available for geotagging.

Please grab the newest version of HoudahGeo from our web site. Alternatively you may get a beta of HoudahGeo 2.2 from these forums.

Hi!

I'll have another look to verify the status of this bug.

It is cosmetic only and limited to the track inspector. It will not interfere with the proper behavior of HoudahGeo.

You may proceed to add your photos to the project and all should work as expected.

Hi!

I have just proceed to geocoding my photos and write exif tags. When I see the photos in iPhoto, these are not geocoding in Places.

In the image, you can see as I write exif tags in Houdahgeo

.Thanks

Hi!

iPhoto caches metadata. Thus it cannot see metadata added to the files by HoudahGeo. That's why it is recommended to geotag photos before importing them into iPhoto.

If you feel adventurous, you may try HoudahGeo 2.2 beta 1. This version is able to write to the iPhoto '09 database.

Hi!.

Yes, I geotag photos before importing them into iphoto 09.

If I open again the geotag photo with Houdahgeo this photo is not geotaging.
Thus when Houdahgeo write exif tag, not modify the exif tag.

Image1. --> Geotag 1.jpg and write exif tag
Image2. --> Reopen 1.jpg (It´s not geocoding)

Many thanks.

Hi!

What options did you check when exporting EXIF tags?

Are there any XMP sidecars?

Does HoudahGeo display any error image?

Please check /Applications/Utilities/Console.app for error messages during the export of EXIF tags.

Hi!

You asked HoudahGeo to create copies. Thus the original file will remain untouched. Tags will be written to the newly created copies.

Please make sure you use these copies to import into iPhoto.

Hi!

Here are the images files. The first image is taken directly from the camera and the second image is geotag with Houdahgeo. The third image is a copy of second image created by Houdahgeo.

Thank you very much.

Hi!

Geotagging those images works fine here.

Please try unchecking the "Tag Originals/Masters" option.

Please look at /Applications/Utilities/Console.app. You should find a line like the following:
26/03/2009 12:17:39 HoudahGeo[43107] EXIFExport.m:829 exiftool -P -m -q -q -a -gps:gpslatitude=47.45000 -gps:gpslatituderef=N -xmp:gpslatitude=47.45000 -gps:gpslongitude=8.43330 -gps:gpslongituderef=E -xmp:gpslongitude=8.43330 -gps:gpsaltitude= -gps:gpsaltituderef= -xmp:gpsaltitude= -gps:gpsdatestamp=2009:03:15 -gps:gpstimestamp=10:39:45 -xmp:gpsdatetime=2009:03:15 10:39:45+0000 -exif:timezoneoffset=1 -exifatetimeoriginal=2009:03:15 11:39:45 -xmpatetimeoriginal=2009:03:15 11:39:45 -iptc:codedcharacterset=UTF8 -iptc:headline= -xmp:imagedescription= -xmp:title= -iptc:caption-abstract= -xmp:usercomment= -xmpescription= -iptc:country-PrimaryLocationName= -xmp:country= -xmp:LocationCreatedCountryName= -iptcrovince-State= -xmp:LocationCreatedProvinceState= -iptc:city= -xmp:city= -xmp:LocationCreatedCity= -exif:artist=Pierre Bernard -xmp:artist=Pierre Bernard -overwrite_original_in_place /Users/pierre/P3150047.JPG.jpeg
Is it followed by an error message?

Hi!

That line does not appear in the console. I uncheck the Tag Originals/Masters option.
In the console appears the following:

26/03/09 13:02:05 HoudahGeo[644] EXIFExport.m:574 Queued 1 images
26/03/09 13:02:05 HoudahGeo[644] EXIFExport.m:1057 Processes: 1 / 1

And no error in console.

Thank you, Jaime

If you are importing geotagged images into iPhoto and it is not working, you may have to turn Places on in the iPhoto preferences.  See my other thread on this.
