I selected an image, dragged it into the Houdah Geo pane.
Marked the location with Google Earth.
Confirmed that the coordinates are connected to the image in the Houdah app.
Exported the image to EXIF.

It also created a .xmp sidecar file...

But when I import it into iPhoto the coordinates are not available.

Please help !

Hi Rogier,

I am not actually sure that iPhoto supports XMP sidecars. I would try without a sidecar.

But isn't the GPS data supposed to be imbedded in the EXIF file with is visible once you select the "info" button on a picture in iPhoto?

There are fields for the GPS data but its not showing.

My main worry is that I have a GPS data logger on the way and I would like to use your application to add the GPS coordinates etc. to my images and then import them to iPhoto 09.

If this is not working with data obtained from Google Earth / Maps. How will this work with a GPS data logger?

Hi!

iPhoto does not reload metadata for already imported photos. Thus it will not see the changes we made to it. iPhoto plugins will however see the new data.

The workaround is to geocode photos before importing them into iPhoto.

Indeed that's what I did, took the images from the memory card. Stuck them in a folder on my desktop. Used Houdah GEO to attach their GPS coordinates. Then imported into iPhoto...

Then iPhoto should see the coordinates. Doesn't it?

Nope that's my problem...

Will try again.

I think I found the reason why I did not see the GPS coordinates in iPhoto:

Make sure you leave Google Earth open when you export the images.
Don't create XMP sidecar files

Can't wait for my Columbus V-900 Bluetooth GPS Data Logger to arrive and take it for a spin :-)
