It would be supper helpful to be able to use houdahspot with time machine. Tiime machine currently looks at the way that folders change over time but houdahspot in time machine could look at how files with given search criteria changes over time. I am not sure of you are even able to access time machine as a third party developer though.

Hi!

That sounds like a very interesting idea.

I however very much doubt it is feasible to run searches against the backups.

Does the third party have any access to basing their software on Time Machine? I pretty sure that the third party has access to the new "versions" feature in Lion and versions is of course a similar concept to Time Machine. I wish they would open that feature up to everyone. I know of several non Apple software that could really take advantage of it.

Hi!

I have seed tools to browse the Time Machine backup. I don't know if they use any official API or not.

Searching the backup is another task. One would need to have an index first. I doubt that exists.

That is too bad that Time Machine probably won't work. Recently I have been dumping all my files into the documents folder and and relying on tagging to find my files. Time Machine doesn't work so great in that kind of situation. Here is hoping Apple adds the ability to search via tags in the future.
